New York filmmaker Barbara Hammer works as producer, director, cinematographer and editor. She started making films in 1968 including No No Nooky (1987), Endangered (1989), Sanctus (1991), and Vital Signs (1992). Her feature Nitrate Kisses (1993) had a U.S. theatrical release. The Arsenal in Berlin, Germany is planning an eight-program retrospective of Hammer's films. Her many fellowships and awards include the Japan Foundation Fellowship, New York Foundation for the Arts, the Soros Foundation and the Jerome Foundation, and her films have screened at festivals around the world.
